How Can my Club Fund Raise on this Site?

A general overview of how it works

Club Members can fund raise by simply selling Business Memberships and Ads on OutdoorAdventurists.com

The understanding with OutdoorAdventurists.com is that Clubs will encourage their own membership to join OutdoorAdventurists.com.  So, in order to receive fund raising benefits, your club must have at least 200 members of which at least 50% are enrolled in OutdoorAdventurists.com as individual members participating in the site’s social functions.

How Does this Work?

What’s the pricing, potential revenues & tracking method?

What You Sell?

  • Business Memberships with a mandatory purchase of a $900 (plus tax) 12 month full page ad
  • Additional Ads – $100-$2000 (plus tax)
  • VIEW PRICING for additional ADS

How to Close the Sale

  • When a business communicates to the fund raisers that they are ready to sign-up, then the fund raisers instruct them to call us so we can help them through the process of signing up, associating their account to the club (for commission credits) and in placing their ad.
  • Sometimes the Business will feel comfortable enough signing up on their own.  That’s OK.  We will check what they have done and contact them if they’ve missed anything.

How You’re Paid

  • Clubs earn commissions of 20% on all their sales.
  • These commissions continue to be earned year after year for every dollar the Business spends on membership (which includes an ad) and any other additional ads they purchase.  Some may want more than one ad on the site.  This revenue flow continues for the lifetime of their membership.

How It’s Tracked

  • When a Business purchases a Membership, they (or we, if we’re helping them) select your club in the drop down provided in their profile details for “Which Club referred you to the site”. This allows us to track your commissions.
  • We, then tally commissions for all Business Memberships and additional ad sales that are associated to your Club and mail you a check each quarter for all your referred Businesses.

Plan Sales Campaign

  • Create a list of volunteers who are willing to participate in this ongoing fund raiser.  It’s best that everyone in the club participates in one way or another – the most suitable to their comfort levels.  Whichever approach or approaches they chose, it all helps.  Below are some examples of different approaches.
  • Determine your budget for printing marketing materials, placing ads in local flyers, paying Trade Show fees, and anything else that may have a cost.  These costs will depend on the various approaches you wish to take.
  • Create a List of ALL Businesses (or Business audiences) your club knows that would be candidates for OutdoorAdventurists.com and determine how to approach them.  You can start with a local business directory, or a trade show attendees list, or do some google searches to find other sources of business lists.
  • There are numerous ways to approach a business about your fund raiser. This will depend on how your volunteers feel about their personal “selling” comfort levels. Here’s a list of some of the situations your fund raisers may prefer in how they sell:
    • casually discuss the website and its benefits to business in a social setting,
    • attend various club & local events and sell to crowds,
    • stand behind a table and answer inquiries,
    • make phone calls,
    • organize email mail outs,
    • approach businesses directly,
    • organize social sharing by club members,
    • add a call-to-action on your website,
    • add a notice to your newsletter, etc.
    Some people will NOT want to participate in sales.  Just gently remind them it’s for a good cause and they should at least give it a try. Comfort them by pointing out that most businesses do not mind being approached by fund raisers who have a good product for them.  The businesses in most cases will thank you for bringing this opportunity to their attention. It’s a great way for them to expand their customer base.  And the cost to them is tax deductible. If your members are still resistant to helping out with sales, then they can be involved in the organizing of the fund raiser through activities such as the printing of marketing materials, the organizing of it, the writing of customized verbiage, the contacting of club members regarding various tasks and other things.  So, they can still help.
  • You may find from time to time, that you’ll need to switch out the approaches.  Or you may find one works better over another. This is not a one time event fund raiser.  It should continue all year long and become part of many standard events and activities throughout the year.  You’ll eventually figure out what works best for your club. But, in the meantime, you can enjoy the flow of funds each quarter as your efforts produce results. And that will be incentive enough to work away at it until the club has a good business ad fund raising system in place.
